Green Hill Country

Completed

ArdaCraft is a massive, ongoing collaborative project. These tags indicate where a specific location is in our development pipeline: awaiting construction (Not Started), actively being built by our team (In Progress), or fully finished and ready to explore (Completed).

Canon

Original locations created by the ArdaCraft team to fill in gaps left by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is carefully designed to remain completely faithful to the established Middle-earth canon.

Green Hill Country

A mile or two further south they hastily crossed the great road from the Brandywine Bridge; they were now in Tookland and bending south-eastwards they made for the Green Hill Country. As they began to climb its first slopes they looked back and saw the lamps of Hobbiton far off in the gentle valley of the Water.
– The Fellowship of the Ring (Book 1), Chapter 3

The Green Hill Country is a region of hills within the Shire. It runs east to west, within three of the Shire’s four farthings (all except the Northfarthing). The region is the principal home of the Took family, and is sometimes known as Tookland. They reside mostly in the Great Smials at Tuckborough, though some family members do inhabit other, smaller holdings in the western parts of Green Hill Country. At the eastern terminus of the hills is Woody End, a forest in the Eastfarthing bordering the Marish. Other settlements in the region include Woodhall and Pincup.
