Leadership Roles

Admin

Description:

Leads ArdaCraft and community

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the smooth running of the project
  • Sets the tone
  • Makes big decisions when required
  • Will typically have a raft of other responsibilities not directly related to the Admin role i.e. leading regions of the map, creating terrain, etc.

“How to get”:

More or less, you don’t -  there would only ever be 1-2 people based on the current server size.

Steward

Description:

Temporary deputy for the Admins

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the smooth running of the project in the Admins’ absence
  • Keeps record of what happened in the Admins’ absence

“How to get”:

Hand-picked by the Admins

Project Roles

Overseer

Description:

Leads major regions on the server (Moria, Gondor, Rohan)

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides building opportunities, mainly via delegation
    • Must have open projects and plots (some MUST be public unless the region is in early active development)
  • Sets styles (does their own research, and establishes style guides)
  • Must show initiative
  • Communicates with all ranks
    • Engages others and delegates tasks
    • Needs to be aware of what is going on throughout their region
    • Distribution of work and development
  • Works with prospective Architects and assesses Architect applications

“How to get”:

  • Assumed when a person is established as an overall region lead
  • Being actively involved in most topics on the server

Architect

Description:

Has the proven ability to lead larger projects like villages/towns

Responsibilities/Capabilities:

  • Has the knowledge and skills required to lay out projects i.e. villages, towns, and areas within Moria
  • Can provide plots and give feedback on plots
  • Solid base knowledge of WE, TS, Axiom, etc.
  • Emotionally mature

“How to get”: Application Process

Builders who are interested in Architect and who have taken more of a leading role in projects can submit an Architect application. It is very unlikely that they will get the rank immediately. Rather, applying is the beginning of a longer process in which the Overseers train prospective Architects to become fully ready to take on larger projects.

Description:

Mentors

Responsibilities:

  • Replies to Applicants on Discord
  • Provides feedback for Applicants
  • Helps Applicants and Apprentices in-game
  • Judges when Applicants/Apprentices should be promoted/demoted

Capabilities:

  • Fully up-to-date on style(s) they are a mentor for
  • Active enough to reply to applicants/apprentices within a few days
  • Approachable

“How to get”:

  • Can approach Overseers if interested
  • Approached by Overseers

[A] Builder

Description:

Builders that have access to Axiom and TS on the main map

Responsibility:

Reasonable use of these tools

“How to get”:

  • Trusted by senior team members
  • Having successfully led a project

Builder

Description:

Full team members

Responsibilities:

  • Doing plots or taking on other tasks
  • Able to apply for and lead smaller projects i.e. homesteads

“How to get”:

Successfully passing through the application system

Apprentice

Description:

Not yet full team members that have earned the ability to work on the main map

Responsibility:

Working on plots they can claim or tasks given to them by Mentors/Leads

“How to get”:

Successfully engaging in the application process

Landscaper

Description:
Team members who take on larger landscaping and terraforming tasks

“How to get”: 

A clear process will be established as the new map gets closer to being finished. For now, it will be given to builders who are particularly interested in landscaping tasks.

Other Roles

Developer

Description:

Members of the Development Team

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing desired mods and features
  • Updating the existing mod pack
  • Fixing bugs

Texture Developer

Description:

Members of the Development Team

Responsibilities:

  • Creating new models for objects or mobs
  • Creating new textures for our Overlay
  • Overhauling old textures
  • Creating icons for our map

Media

Description:

Members of the Media Team

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and posting the weekly Bulletin Board on Discord
  • Writing articles for the website
  • Further detailing the locations page on the website
  • Taking screenshots that can be used on the website or on Social Media
  • Making reels for our Instagram
  • Making videos for our YouTube channel
  • Making vidoes for our TikTok
  • Developing new ideas and concepts to increase ArdaCraft's online presence

Events

Description:

Members of the Events Team

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing coming events
  • Developing new ideas and concepts for Events

"How to get":

[V] Veteran

Description:

Previous team members who used to have a building role.

"How to get":

Being inactive on the server for a prolonged time

Conlorer

Description:

Community members that help fill in the gaps in the lore

Responsibilities:

  • Coming up with location names in Tolkien's languages
  • Developing histories and cultures for peoples not thoroughly described in the lore
