Distant Horizons: Questions you might have

Distant Horizons (DH) has been added to ArdaCraft. This mod allows you to see thousands of blocks over the map without significant lag, and now works with shaders. This article answers some common questions about the mod that you might have.

What shaders does DH work with?

DH works with the shaders installed in our modpack. If you want to use your own shaders, check out the FAQ on their discord.

Why isn’t everything visible when I join?

DH is client side. It means you have to physically go in the chunk so they can appear later with DH. If you don't want to do it yourself, a member of our community has kindly loaded in the LODs for the entire map and has made it available for anyone. For further information, please ask in our discord. Below is a guide to applying these files in your game once they have been downloaded.

  • Go to the 'Start' page for ArdaCraft on whichever launcher you're using
  • Click 'Open Folder'
  • Delete 'Distant_Horizons_server_data'
  • Transfer the downloaded file across (this may take a few seconds)
  • Unzip the file
  • Launch your game as usual

How can I change DH settings?

In the options screen, there is the DH logo next to the FOV slider: there you can change your settings and up the amount of LODs loaded- we have it set to low as default so as not to crash low-spec PCs and Laptops.

How can I install DH?

DH should already be installed with the modpack. If not, then delete your instance and reinstall.

Got an issue not mentioned here?

Whilst we do try our best to fix any issues you may have using DH on ArdaCraft, the DH official discord server is the best place for advice, technical issues and discussion around the mod in general. We recommend you try there.
