What is an Architect ?

Architects are team members who lead a specific area in a region.
They have proven that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to lead such areas.

What does an Architect do?

As an Architect, you work closely with higher and lower ranks. While the Overseers (region leads) take care of delegating and distributing tasks to lower ranks across the whole region, builders receive information, tasks, and plots from you as an Architect in the area you are currently leading. One of your main tasks, in addition to planning and distributing work, is to provide feedback and guidance in the active production phase.

Typically, once your plans for an area or project have been approved by the Overseers, you can open plots and tasks to Builders and Apprentices. You are expected to work independently of and without much help from the Overseers so that they can focus on other things.

Responsibilities and Capabilities

For your Architect application to be approved, you need to have proven that you

  • Have the knowledge and skills required to plan, lay out, and lead larger projects i.e. villages, towns, and areas within a region
  • Are fully up-to-date with the region's styles, palettes, and guides
  • Are actively involved in a running region, whether by planning or leading one or more projects
  • Have the ability to provide plots and give feedback on plots
  • Have a solid base knowledge of the server tools (Axiom, Terrasniper, Worldedit)

Don't let this put you off - we do not expect Architect applicants to have already mastered all these skills when they submit their application. Rather, submitting an application is the beginning of a longer process in which we train you to develop these capabilities and take on these responsibilities.

How to start

You start with writing an Architect application. You can find the template as well as an example application here.

Be honest with yourself!

We never stop learning - so it is important that you are honest with yourself when you write your application. What are your goals for the future and can you achieve them? What are your strengths and weaknesses? These are important for everyone to have an understanding of what needs to be worked on.

You also need to create a list of all past projects you have led and larger tasks you have taken on. This gives everyone a good overview of all your experiences and capabilities.

You will regularly update and expand on this application with accomplishments and newly learned skills. This allows the Overseers to track how much you have improved and learned and when you are ready to be promoted. They will also regularly update the thread with tasks, assessments, and updates from their end.

How to apply

You create an application post in the application channel on our Discord similarly to when you first applied for Builder. The post should follow this format:

Title: Architect Application | [player name]

Player Name:

Region: [region you want to become an Architect for]

Application Document: [link to your application document following the template]

Once you have posted your application, an Overseer of the region you are applying for will reply to you and tell you the next steps.
